Welcome to the Oklahoma tourism
page, nicknamed the "Sooner State" due to the settlers who claimed
land before the official start of the April 1889 land rush. This land
of sweeping grasslands is also home to pristine wilderness, numerous frontier
forts, rustic pioneer cabins, legendary Route 66, and the historic Chisholm
Trail. With 51 State Parks, outdoor adventure such as camping, hiking,
boating, fishing, and dune buggy rides are very popular with both tourists and
natives alike. "Out west" lodging at a guest ranch in the Lake
Country. Wander through a rain forest at the Tulsa Zoo. Visit the
Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, or simply set up your tent and relax camping
in the Wichita Mountains. A journey to Oklahoma is a journey to America's
heartland, where wide open spaces and friendly faces are what we're all about.
